The
first
installment property tax payments are due
on
or before
January 31, 2012.
Failure
to make your payment on time will result in interest
assessments and/or late payment penalty charges.
Residents
can pay the full amount of their property tax or only
the first installment by the first installment due
date. The second installment is due on July 31, 2011
and is collected by Dane County.
Checks
created on or before January 31, 2012 should be made
payable to the “Town
of Middleton”. After January 31, checks should be made out to “Dane
County Treasurer”.
Payments
on or before January 31, 2011 can be made in person at
the Town Hall or mailed to 7555 W. Old Sauk Road,
Verona, WI 53593.
In order to receive a receipt:
a)
Bring the entire tax bill document
to the Town Hall with your payment. The top portion
will act as your receipt after being date stamped and
initialed by a Town employee.
b) Mail the entire tax bill document
to the Town Hall with your payment along with
a
self-addressed, stamped envelope.
An
endorsed
escrow check should accompany the tax bill.
If
the escrow check is
LESS
than the tax bill,
enclose a personal check to make up the difference.
If the
escrow check is
MORE
than the tax bill,
have the financial institution re-issue the check for
the exact amount due.
A
$15.00 processing fee
is assessed on escrow checks exceeding the
tax, reducing the overage refund.
Overage amounts are not refunded until
March 2012.
To claim a lottery credit, you must have
occupied your residence
on January 1, 2011. Lottery
credit request forms must be received, not postmarked,
on or before
January 31, 2012. Once
claimed, the lottery credit will be issued on all
subsequent property tax bills until there is a change in
ownership.
If
you qualify for a lottery credit but the credit is not
reflected on the tax bill, contact the town immediately
at 833-5887 --

please be aware there is a fee.
Charge
cards payments are assessed
a 2.75% to the taxpayer.
E-Checks
are processed for a fee of $2.75 assessed to the
taxpayer.
