Tax Payment Options

 

 Forms of Payment

FOR 1ST INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS:
  • Cashier's check, Personal check, Money Order or Cash
  • Credit Cards and Electronic Payments: Property tax bills may be paid online using a credit card or E-check 24 hours a day up to January 24, 2025.  No electronic payments are accepted after that date in order to allow time for bank transaction processing. CLICK HERE TO ENTER PAYMENT PORTAL.  A convenience fee will be charged on all credit card and electronic payments.

  • All payments must be made in United States Dollars only.
  • Make checks or money orders payable to: Town of Middleton
  • Do not combine any other payment with your property taxes.
  • If payment is made by check, the tax receipt is not valid until the check has cleared all banks.

FOR 2ND INSTALLMENT PAYMENTS:

Payment is made directly to the Dane County Treasurer's Office

Three ways to pay Dane County:

  2. Online payment system may be down immediately following due dates

Mail your payment early to make sure the U.S. Postal Service postmark is timely. Please know that it can take up to fourteen days to identify and resolve an online payment error, a check mailed to the wrong address, or an insufficient funds payment.

Real Estate Taxes

Real Estate Property Taxes are payable in full by January 31, or first installment by January 31 with the remaining balance to be paid to the Dane County Treasurer by July 31.

Personal Property Taxes

Make all personal property tax payments directly to the Town of Middleton. Payments are due in full by January 31.

Late fees of 1.5% per month will be assessed on all personal property taxes paid after January 31.


 

 Mail (Only for payments made before January 31st)

  • Send your remittance portion of your tax bill and check payable to the Town of Middleton 
  • Do not combine any other payment with your property taxes.
  • If paying more than one parcel with one check, list the Tax ID numbers and amounts for each parcel on the check.

  • If you would like a receipt, just remember to enclose the entire original tax bill and a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
  • Do NOT send cash in the mail. Cash is only accepted in person.

 Pay in Person at the Town Hall (Only for payments made before January 31st)

In Person Hours at the Town Hall Office:  

8 a.m. – 4 p.m.: Monday - Thursday

8 a.m. - Noon: Friday

The Town Hall will be closed on December 24, 2024; December 25, 2024; and January 1, 2025. 

  • Bring your entire original tax bill(s).
  • Your tax bill will be stamped PAID with the date of payment.
  • Do not combine any other payment with your property taxes.
  • The Town processes all checks electronically. This means when residents submit their payments to the Town, the funds will be withdrawn more timely. Please make sure when you submit your payment that you have sufficient funds.
  • Credit Cards and Electronic Payments: This option will be available for the payment of real estate or personal property taxes, but NOT until the end of December. Watch for more details about this option on our website.

 

 Drop Box (Only for payments made before January 31st)

  • There is an after hours drop box located outside the front doors of the Town Hall.
  • Please include the remittance portion of your tax bill.
  • If you would like a receipt, please enclose a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your payment OR include an email address and your receipt will be emailed to you.
  • Do not combine any other payment with your property taxes.
